Nice video. You know, I just explained this to my 7 yr old son the other day. We are AAs and he said that he was told by a teacher that he was the only one in his school who could get a tan because he’s fair skinned. So I asked “what about the white kids in ur school?”. (the school is 95% AA) He reminded me that I told him not to refer to ppl as black, white, etc. And I did say that but I then realized where I was wrong.

My response to him was that dark ppl tan too but it looks a little different. AND we can use black, white, asian, etc but ONLY to DESCRIBE someone. If we’re using hurtful words in the same sentence then we do not refer to their race, but in order to explain to me how someone looks, you can use their race because it simply tells me who ur talking about.

Race is a description. Period. Color blindness will not cure racism. Understanding and acceptance will.

Help me make my vision a reality. Start early teaching diversity to kids.
